My name is martin byers. I met darryl in nineteen eighty I believe at saint mary's hospital in evansville, indiana.
At that time, the company that we were working for was named terstep.
I also was acquainted with kebo, daryl's brother.
I was also acquainted with another friend of daryl's and his name was sid, but I don't remember his last name.
A lot of memories for me.

Beverly & I did not see our message to the family we last left so we are writing a new one. We express our love to the family.  Darrel was special and we will miss him. We worshipped with  Helen and Darrel at Kosmosdale Baptist Church in the 70's until we moved to Florida in the 80's. We enjoyed several vacations together fishing and camping and softball & worshipping  our LORD Jesus together.  May GOD's blessings flow  to the family and freinds.

Darrell was a very dear brother.  He will  be greatly missed until that joyful reunion in heaven.  Be assured of our prayers for your family in the coming days.

Ole Darrell was my best buddy
Our friendship span nearly 40 years
He was not only a great buddy but a mentor 
He was the most Godly man I've ever known He destroyed me daily in the game of raquetball for 30 some years but I kept coming back every day . Ole son you will be missed greatly 😢

Darrell and I were best friends during our years at Valley High School from 1967-1970.
We were almost always teammates playing 2on2 basketball at Stuart Middle School’s outdoor basketball courts. No other team could beat us! I would rebound a missed opponent’s shot, pitch it back to “Mitch” and he would sink a long jumper from nearly half court!

We both went to UK after high school. He stayed at a cousin’s residence and I drove in from Danville, KY and picked him up and then went to campus for classes. During the break in-between classes, sometimes we would play a pick-up basketball on the outdoor courts next to Memorial Coliseum. One of those games we played was against the great UK scholarship freshman Ronnie Lyons and another UK freshman walk-on….and we beat them!!! 
Darrell was a great person and a wonderful friend!
I sure am going to miss him!

I loved him most when Darrell was sharing his opinion about how great his Savior was for showering us with His great love and forgiveness. There was nothing more important to him. And I will remember his passion and  gratitude for the forgiveness Christ continued to give him. He loved his Savior more than anyone I had ever met. I was blessed to know him. Can’t wait to sit and talk again about our Savior. He was a great man of God, but an even greater  friend.

Rest in Peace Darryl. Gonna miss you at Half Times poker night. 🙏

So sorry for your loss. He was like a father to my son Aaron Berry. I know he will be deeply missed.

My love and prayers are with the Mitchell and Thomas families.   I loved and admired Darrell for all the good that he was.   It was self-evident that the good Lord put Darrell on the earth to gently lead us all closer to Him.  He was my friend, my soul mate, and my fishing buddy.  

The featured pictures of Darrell holding the large-mouth bass were babies compared to the ones I caught.  One thing is for sure: fishermen are known for their exaggerations.  Darrell and I spent hundreds of hours on Nolin Lake going for the big ones.  Fish on, dear friend in the Lord's lake.

Oh Darrell, you will be soooo missed.  You were there for me & Tony During so much.  Your words always lifted us up.  We Will miss all of our times together we spent at Half Times and other places we would go together.  Your heart was golden!!  I know Helen and You will have a Heavenly reunion. She was your true sweetheart you’d say.  We will miss you, but I’m happy knowing you are NO longer in pain, and never will be again.  Love ya Darrell!

I'm sorry for the family's and the church's loss.
My maiden name was Skaggs and I knew Darrell from back in the days at Kosmosdale Baptist Church. I was a kid back then. I didn't know him well but I do remember him and Helen and their 3 kids. God bless everyone who knew Darrell.
