

Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Chester LeRoy Dailey and Nannette Layman Dailey of Louisville. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Cornelia Robinson Layman Sharp and Everett Richard “Dick” Layman of Louisville, Kentucky; and her paternal grandparents, Nellie Quire Dailey and Milburn Jasper Dailey of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Denise was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Nick Wilson, who passed away on November 17, 1986, and by a special friend, Chris Fecher.
Denise is survived by her daughter, Kacy Deane Wilson of Louisville, Kentucky, who was the light of her life. She is also survived by her brothers, Gary L. Dailey (Patty) of Leavenworth, Indiana, and David B. Dailey (Jonell) of Frankfort, Kentucky.
She is lovingly remembered by her nephews: Paul Dailey (Brooke) of Ogden, Utah; Timothy Dailey (Micah) of Louisville, Kentucky; John Dailey (Elizabeth) of Lexington, Kentucky; and Jason Dailey (Adam) of Jeffersonville, Indiana. She is also survived by her nieces: Kate Dailey Heustis (Bennett) of Independence, Kentucky, and Madeline Dailey Douglas (Aaron) of Columbus, Ohio. Denise also leaves behind nine great-nieces and great-nephews, along with many other cherished and loved relatives and friends.
Denise was baptized and raised in the Baptist faith and attended Hillsdale Baptist Church and Ridgewood Baptist Church through the years. Denise earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree and spent her life devoted to caring for others. Nursing was truly her calling, and she had a natural gift and compassion for providing care to both people and animals. Her healthcare career included work in Veteran Adminstration hospitals in Dover, Delaware, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, as well as home health services in Louisville, Kentucky. Denise had recently retired after many years of dedicated and faithful service with the pain management medical practice of Dr. Lawrence H. Peters in Louisville.
Outside of her work, Denise was a passionate fan of University of Louisville Cardinals football and enjoyed supporting her team. She also had a talent for renovating homes, a skill she developed working alongside her father.
Of all Denise’s accomplishments and responsibilities, her greatest pride and joy was being a mother and best friend to her daughter, Kacy. The two shared an unbreakable relationship and bond and were inseparable throughout life.
Denise will be remembered for her caring heart, her strong spirit, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her legacy of compassion and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Friday, May 15 at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of the service.
