Donald Bernard Bartsch (Don) age 68, passed away on January 10th surrounded by loving family after a short battle with lung cancer. He was the son of Ella Mae and Bernard Bartsch who predeceased him.
He proudly served in the US Navy for 23 years, enlisting with his parent’s permission at 17, and retired as a Chief Boatswain’s Mate. He had an adventurous life traveling around the world several times including spending months in Antarctica, serving in the Vietnam evacuation and Gulf War.
His trophies were many including a hole in one in Hawaii and a pool tournament in Vegas. Don kept his inground pool crystal clear and mostly used by family and friends. Don was an exceptional car salesman with his last position at Hyundai.
Don always had a joke to tell, enjoyed every sport, was very competitive, and a bit of a pool shark. He was a U of K Wildcat Blue fan through and through with a pinch of Cardinal Red when no one was looking. Don was rarely seen without one of his U of K hats.
Don is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Rebecca Ann, his sons, Donald Bernard Jr and Dennis Ray Bartsch as well as his siblings, Randy Bartsch (Terri), Gilbert Gibbs Jr. (Theresa), Patricia Kiper (Jerry), Helen Saltz, and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great nephews who loved him very much.
