Eugene Harold Riggs, a beloved veteran, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on August 20, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1948, and grew up in Fairdale, Kentucky, where he graduated from Fairdale High School in 1966.
Harold was a devoted family man whose life was centered on those he loved. He will be remembered for his quiet strength and warmth, his extraordinary mental resilience, and his deep devotion to his family and love for our Lord and Savior. He was known for his patience, kindness, strong work ethic, toughness, and Christlike spirit. Even in his final hours, Harold offered reassurance to those around him, saying, “I’m okay. I’m good.”
A true outdoorsman, Harold grew up fishing and hunting—activities that remained deeply meaningful to him throughout his life. For Harold, hunting and fishing were more than hobbies; they were spiritual experiences that connected him with nature, faith, and the simple beauty of life.
He was also an avid sports fan who loved the Kentucky Wildcats and enjoyed watching boxing.
Harold proudly served on active duty in the United States Army from July 17, 1969, through February 20, 1971, stationed in Korea during the Vietnam conflict. During his service, he worked with, powered, and maintained tactical generators used for missile systems. Following his military service, Harold began a long and dedicated career with General Electric, where he worked for more than 30 years before retiring.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Pat Riggs; his daughters, Rebecca Corrigan (Shawn) and Tracy Conrad (John); grandchildren, Nick Conrad (Amber), Phillip Conrad (Karly), Jacqueline Hollkamp, Caleb Davis, Casey Davis (Kaylee), and Camden Ball; great-grandchildren, Gus Kotheimer, Ryder Phillips, Sterling Mathews, River Davis, and Cooper Conrad; his sister, Louise Heavrin; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Hollkamp; his father, Floyd Riggs; and his mother, Jessie Walsh Riggs.
The family extends a special and heartfelt thank-you to Pat Riggs for the unwavering love, support, and devoted care she provided to Harold throughout their 39 years of marriage, especially during the last several years of his life.
Harold’s legacy will live on through the family he cherished, the faith he held dear, the values he embodied, and the countless lives he touched with his gentle strength and generous heart. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Norton Cancer Institute in honor of Harold Riggs.
