

He was a printer by trade and retired from V.G. Reed & Sons. Most of all, he was an awesome husband, father, and friend. He was our modern day super hero, devoted to his family, and loyal to his dear friends. He was the total sum of a man with a priceless wit and sharp intellect, the kind of man everyone wants and needs in their life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Sue; son-in-law, John Patrick Chapman; brothers, Steve and Charlie; and sister, Jean.
Survivors include a son, George M. Knoop; five daughters, Vivian Newsome (Mark), Sarah and Joseph, Jennifer Basham (Barry), Kevin, Daniel and Bradley, Robbin Chapman (William Szenay), Nicholas, Adam and Ellen, Renee' Moore (Scott), Casey, Brock, Lillian, Hayley, and Chance, Amy Edwards (Dewey), Kaitlin, Michael, Nathaniel, Marcus, Jessica, and Olivia; two great grandchildren, Bailey and Zoey; two brothers, Harold Knoop (Janie), and Michael Butler (Judy); three sisters, Ella Page, Patricia Blocker (John), and Angie McGrew (Wayne) along with family friend, Lona Livers and many nieces, nephews and friends that loved him.
Service will be noon on Thursday at W.G. Hardy Funeral Home with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. on Thursday.
