Virginia L McCalpine, 69, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on April 23, 2026. Born February 1, 1957, Ginny will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude for the steady, meaningful ways she cared for others and carried herself through life.
Ginny built her working life as a bookkeeper, a role well suited to her sharp mind and dependable nature. She approached her responsibilities with diligence and quiet competence—someone others could count on, not only for accuracy and order, but for the calm steadiness she brought to each day.
For 42 years, Ginny shared a devoted marriage with her husband, Jim McCalpine. At the center of her world were her son Quincy and grandson Will, who gave her immense pride. Her love for family was evident in the attention she gave to the people closest to her, and in the thoughtful ways she expressed it—especially through gift giving, a simple act she made feel personal and generous. She also found joy in reading, in time away on vacations to the beach, and most of all in children, whose presence drew out her warmth and care.
Those who knew Ginny often spoke of her as a hard worker with an “old soul”—wise in her outlook, grounded in what mattered, and guided by a heart that made room for others. She met life without complaint, with a quiet strength that did not seek recognition, and with a kindness that left a lasting impression.
Ginny is survived by her husband, Jim McCalpine; her son, Quincy McCalpine (Raven); her grandson, Will McCalpine; and her sister, Judy Berry (Steve). She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Geraldine Coffman; her sisters, Kathy Kelly and Cheri Kilby; and her brothers, Buddy Coffman and Mike Coffman.
Visitation will be held at Advantage Heady Dixie Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
