One of five sons born to Bill and Christina Sims, Howard grew up surrounded by family. His parents and brothers Dale, Larry, and Bobby preceded him in death, and their memories were always cherished in his heart. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 34 years, Laura Needy Sims, who was his unwavering companion through life’s journey. His legacy lives on in his loving sons, Josh (Kailynn) and Travis (Ashley), and his beloved grandson, Aiden. Howard also leaves behind his brother Glenn, with whom he shared a lifelong bond, as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will forever miss his presence.
Howard's education began at Holy Name Grade School and continued through his graduation from Manual High School in 1975. He dedicated many years of his life to his work at Louisville Freezer, UPS, Millard's Refrigeration and Ford Motor Company where he eventually retired.
In his younger years, Howard found great joy in sports and games, with a passion for softball, darts, pool, bowling, and fishing. His love for classic rock was ever-present, providing the soundtrack to cherished moments spent with family and his beloved pets. Above all, Howard treasured the time spent with his loved ones, whether it was playing cards, celebrating special occasions, or enthusiastically cheering on his favorite teams, the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Minnesota Vikings.
A quiet, soft-spoken man, Howard had a big heart filled with love for his family and friends. His passing leaves a void that words cannot fill, but his memory and the love he shared will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life will take place on a later date, where family and friends will come together to honor and remember a man whose quiet strength and warm soul touched so many hearts.
