James L. Whelan, 73, of Louisville, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at Jewish Hospital.

He was a retired electrician for Colgate-Palmolive, a ham radio operator (WA4ZRR), a St. X graduate class of 1957, and was formerly a member of St. Denis Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Connie Braden Whelan; daughters Tracy Easton (Tom) and Denise Spear; a sister, Patricia Jacobi; grandchildren, Megan, James, and Cody; and family friend Doug Gayhart.

His funeral service will be held at 12:00 Friday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy, followed by burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Thursday.
