

Born on December 5, 1941, in Green County, Kentucky, Joe was the son of Buck and Christine Moran. A proud graduate of Shawnee High School, Class of 1960, he dedicated 32 years of service to General Electric Appliance Park before retiring.
Joe was a faithful member of Hillsdale Baptist Church and was deeply involved in his community. He was a member of Shively Lodge 951 F&AM, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of the Kosair Shriners. He was also honored as a Kentucky Colonel.
Joe will be remembered for his love of Kentucky Basketball, his enjoyment of Western movies, and the pride he took in maintaining his beautiful rose garden. He had a deep appreciation for history, loved traveling across the country, and above all, cherished his family with a deep and abiding love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Christine Moran; his brothers, Eudell and Cauky Moran; and his sisters, Gail Greenlee and Janyce Moore.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Brenda Bailey Moran; his sons, Darrell Moran Jr. (Faye) and John Cody Moran (Shannon); his daughter, Marty Moran Adams (Butch); his grandchildren, Joshua Moran (Ashley), Caitlin Jury (Chad), Tyler Adams (Landry), Hope Moran (Nate), and Allie Mae Moran; and his great-grandchildren, Jaxton, Colton, Weston, and Hazel Moran, Daxton, Jade, Lily Jury, and Wesley Adams. He is also survived by his brother, Harold Moran (Marcella); his sister, Reva Nevitt (Joe); along with many loving nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend. A second visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m., all at the funeral home.
Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Joe’s life and legacy.
Entombment will follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
