Katherine "Kate" Mary Schuett

Katherine “Kate” Mary Schuett, 71, born July 4, 1955, in Libertyville, Illinois, died September 2, 2026. A resident of Prospect, Kentucky, Kate will be remembered with gratitude and love for a life defined by steady faith, openhanded generosity, and a devotion that made others feel truly cared for. Her presence—so often marked by a warm smile—had a way of lifting a room and reminding those around her that the simplest acts of love can be the most enduring.

Kate grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas, in a family of 15 brothers and sisters. She graduated from Northeast High School in Little Rock, carrying forward the values of family and togetherness that would remain at the heart of her life.

Kate was a devoted wife and mother. She was married to Lonnie Schuett for 29 years, and together they raised their two children, Aaron and Megan. Kate spent her life centered on her family as they moved from Little Rock to Denver, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, and ultimately settled in Louisville—each new place made warmer by her selfless attention to the people she loved and the community she embraced.

Those who knew Kate knew her as someone who gave freely of herself. She loved to dance, and her joy in life showed in the way she celebrated others. She often sought volunteer opportunities at her children’s schools, offering her time with a generous spirit and a vibrant determination to improve the lives of those around her. In later years she remained faithful in service, becoming an active volunteer at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in La Grange, Kentucky where she lived her beliefs through consistent care and compassion.

Kate is survived by her son, Aaron Schuett (Elaine); her daughter, Megan Sollberger (Aaron); her grandchildren, Isaac and Gabrielle Schuett, and Bryn and Molly Sollberger; her brothers, Fred, Peter, John, Chad, and Bill; and her sisters, Ann-Marie, Chris, Pat, Theresa, Blanche, Maggie, and Aggie. She was preceded in death by her father, John Baker Sr.; her mother, Mary Baker; and her brothers, Bruce and Paul.

Memorial Visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd, Louisville, Kentucky 40222, on September 8, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 502 N 5th Ave, La Grange, KY 40031, on September 9, 2026, at 11:00 am.
