Landon Hunter Mabrey

Landon was born in Richmond, Kentucky on Friday, July 14, 1989.

Landon was a hardworking and talented man, who possessed an ability to understand how many things worked. He was employed by Ford Motor Company, where he worked on the assembly line, and was a proud member of the United Auto Workers.

Away from work, that same technical skill and ability followed him home. He especially enjoyed working on Toyotas and was remarkably skilled with his hands. Whether he was taking something apart, repairing it or simply tackling a new project, there was very little that Landon was afraid to try.

Curious by nature, Landon was an avid researcher when something captured his interest. He enjoyed learning everything he could about his hobbies and could easily lose himself in reading, researching or discovering some new piece of information that fit in the puzzle. He was technically minded and enjoyed reading, and playing video games, but he was equally content stepping away from the daily technologies and spending time outdoors with nature and the vast beyond.

The mountains were his happy place. He loved to hike and travel, of all the places he experienced, some of his favorites were Asheville, North Carolina; New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Some of those places became especially meaningful because they were experienced alongside his wife, Sarah.

Wherever they went and whatever they were doing, Landon and Sarah were rarely far from one another. They were inseparable, enjoying simply sharing life together.

Music was another of Landon's great passions, having many different playlists. He appreciated the time to slow down, listen to the tunes he loved, and settle into his hammock - his favorite place to relax. It was there that he got to enjoy a quiet moment, surrounded by the sights, sounds and those he loved that made life meaningful to him.

Above all else, Landon loved deeply. He cared tremendously for his family and the treasured time he shared with those he loved. It is that same love that extended to his sweet, Oakley, who held a very special place in his heart.

Those who knew Landon will forever remember his intelligence and curiosity, his remarkable ability to fix and create, his passion for the things that interested him, and the tremendous, unending love he carried for Sarah, Oakley and his family. He will be deeply missed.

Landon is preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin and Vernell Mabrey; his father-in-law, Randy Stumph; and cousin, Scott Adams.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sarah Mabrey; his four - legged fur baby, Oakley; his father, Dale A. Mabrey; his mother, Karen Borders; his sister, Amber Borders; niece, Kaitlyn Stalker; nephew, Mikey Borders; his aunt, Linda D. (Art) Schlachter; his uncle, Larry M. (Linda) Mabrey; his cousins, Laurie (Billy) Freeman, Heather (Shane) Foley, Sam (Cindy) Adams, Christi Adams, Jaylee Powers, Jaylee, Zeke, Mason, Miles, Kyle, Kayla, Hunter, Stella, Vivian and Clark; plus, a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 12:30 in the Chapel of Advantage Funeral home - Heady Dixie. Landon will be laid to rest following the Funeral Service in Bethany Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. and then again on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. until the Funeral Hour of 12:30 p.m. also at the Advantage Funeral Home - Heady Dixie.
