Monday, August 14, 2017, Michael Scott Carden of Louisville, Kentucky passed away peacefully while surrounded by friends and loved ones. He was a devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend and a valued member of the community.
Born in Frankfurt, Germany on November 8, 1961 he eventually settled in Valley Station, Kentucky with his father, Sgt. Major Paul Carden, mother, Hannelore Carden and brothers, Robert (Barbara) and Pat (Jeanie) Carden.
After graduating from Stuart High School in 1979, he earned a degree in Business Marketing from the University of Kentucky in 1984. While in Lexington, Mike met the love of his life, Kimberly A. Carden (Ison) of Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Married in 1986, Mike and Kim were blessed with two beautiful children; a daughter Makenzie L. Carden in 1991 and a son Bryce M. Carden in 1994. It was the role of husband and father that Mike took the most seriously. Together, Mike and Kim built a full and productive family life for thirty-one years.
Mike was also dedicated to the game of baseball. His tenure as the longest serving President of Prairie Village baseball and softball youth league and coach of the Louisville Sharks AAU earned him the reputation of a fierce yet fair competitor. It was through the game he loved so much that he formed valued friendships that spanned the remainder of his life.
In his spare time Mike enjoyed rooting for the Kentucky Wildcats, sampling craft beer, playing golf, walking Gabby his beloved dog, and attending festivals in the Highlands, where he and Kim relocated in 2013 as empty nesters.
Mike will be remembered as a man of great generosity, humor and integrity. His death will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
According to his wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Advantage Funeral Home Hardy Chapel has been entrusted with Mike’s final arrangements. Please visit our website www.advantagefuneral.com to leave an online condolence.
