Pamela Anne Shore (Pamela Jean Butler), 86, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026 in Louisville, KY. Pam (lovingly known to family as Aunt Pam or AP) was a graduate of Presentation Academy and Nazareth College in Louisville. Pam started her teaching career at Westport High School in Louisville. She went on to earn multiple post-secondary degrees and certifications that allowed her to follow her passion for language and teaching, earning the last of these in her 60s. She lived in Huntington Beach, CA from the 1960’s to 2003 where she taught French and ESL courses at Westminster High School. She then moved home to Louisville and taught once again at Jefferson County schools for several more years, much of it dedicated to teaching young students with special needs, before her retirement. She loved travel, music, all things French, skiing, and animals. Pam was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Alliance Française, ASPCA, and the Animal Assistance League of Orange County, CA. She was fiercely independent, terribly funny, and incredibly witty. She is survived by her brother Robert Butler, Jr (Rita), her cousin Marjorie Schubnell, nieces Cheryl DelVisco, Lisa McLain, and Joan Balthrop (Darrin) and a nephew, Brian Butler (Kelly), as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of beloved Davenport cousins. The family is grateful for the end of life care she received from nurses, doctors, staff, aides, and hospice at Baptist Hospital East. A visitation and memorial gathering in her honor will be held at Arch L. Heady and Son at 7410 Westport Rd. in Louisville, KY on Thursday June 25, 2026 from 9am - 11am with a service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Kentucky Humane Society. .
