

Richard Lewis Erwin entered into his new life in heaven on June 1, 2024, in Largo, Florida. He is joining his beloved wife Elaine, his son, Richard Thomas (Tommy), his parents, and half-siblings Alice, George, and Charles, and several other loved ones.
He is survived by his two sons, Donnie (Jackie); and Jimmy (Lynn); and two daughters, Diane (Kenny); and Joanne (Kevin); 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and Sally Seitz, his companion of ten years.
Richard was born on September 5, 1933, to Clyde and Doris Erwin of Memphis, Indiana. He moved with his parents to Louisville, Kentucky when he was school aged. A proud veteran of the Korean War, Richard served aboard the U.S.S. Compton. After retiring from Phillip Morris, he and Elaine relocated to Florida.
Above all, Richard was a devoted husband and a loving father. He had a zest for life and cherished family trips and adventures, and he loved traveling and spending time in Florida after retirement. He was an accomplished musician and loved to dance.
Richard’s visitation and memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Advantage Funeral Home (Hardy Chapel) 10907 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky 40272 with visitation at 10:00AM - 2:00PM and Memorial Service will start at 2:00PM with a celebration to follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Kentucky School for The Blind, The Salvation Army, and Center for Women and Families.
