Robert Healy

Robert “Bob” Healy, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026. He was known throughout his community for always showing up to help others, earning the saying, “Helpful Bob is on the job.” Selfless and dependable, Bob made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Bob was born January 31st 1952 in Nuremberg, Germany. He spent his youth traveling throughout Europe and also lived in Denmark. He graduated from Miami Military Academy, where he played football and baseball. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Wurzburg, Germany during the Vietnam era and later served in the Army National Guard during Desert Storm. He attended Morehead State University and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Bob retired from Kentucky state government service at KCPC before finding his passion working in the paddock at Churchill Downs.

Above all, Bob cherished his family. Spending time with his son and grandsons meant the world to him, and Owen and Theo were truly the light of his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Colonel Richard and Mary Mazetta (Bright) Healy, and his brother-in-law, Bill Madison.

He is survived by his son, Craig (Lila) Healy, and his grandsons, Owen and Theodore Healy; his siblings, Richard (Linda) Healy, Mike (Diana) Healy, Kathleen Madison, and Daniel Healy; his nieces and nephews, Tim, Bridget, Amanda, and David; and his former spouse, Denise (Steve) Humphrey.

Bob will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to others, and unwavering love for his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Great Hall at the Kentucky Derby Museum on June 8th from 5pm-8:30pm. All friends, family, and coworkers are welcome to join in celebrating the life of a great man gone too soon.
