He retired after 32 years of service at International Harvester. He was a Navy veteran, a member of the former Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, American Legion Dixie Post #220 and DAV.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Mayfield.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; son, Robert Jr. (Cindy); daughters, Connie Mayfield and Sherrie Gartland (Dale); grandchildren, Kristen and Samantha Simmons, Hanna, Haley and Jenna Gartland, Kaila and Kyle Mayfield and Breanna and John Franzell; great granddaughter, Kaiden Simmons; brothers, Giadona"Dan," Tom, Bill and Kenny Lee; and sisters, Linda Pickard, Nancy Downs, Barbara Bakan and Brenda Sivori.
Robert's service will be noon Monday at the W.G. Hardy Funeral Home and Cremation Service with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Saturday, 2-8 p.m. and Sunday, noon-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
