Royal David Boyer, 81, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. He was born to the late Ellsworth and Pearl Boyer in Louisville Kentucky on December 4, 1944. David proudly served his country in the US Army as a cook in Hawaii on the Schofield Barracks serving Vietnam veterans while they were on R&R. After 35 years working for Reynolds Metals, David retired for the first time. He began another career - driving trucks for T&C Contracting and he became a beekeeper. With all the experiences David had his greatest enjoyment was fishing on Scott's farm and dancing with his loving wife, Cathy.
Left to cherish David's memory is his wife of 23 years, Cathy Boyer; daughter, Karen Coleman; son, David Ray Boyer; step-son, Scott Thornberry (Ashley); step-daughter, Cara Shelton (Chuck); sister, Patricia Pritchett; 5 grandchildren; 5 nieces and nephews; several extended family members and great friends.
A memorial service will be held at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central with military honors after cremation. The date will be shared as soon as possible.
