Samuel Dewey Stansberry Jr.

Sam worked as a pipefitter at Dupont and later retired as a construction manager. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and spending time on the golf course.

Sam was a loving husband, father, poppy, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson, John Kelly Gibson.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Brenda “Bo” Stansberry; his daughter, Jennifer P. Stansberry; and his son, John W. Stansberry. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Austin Shipp (Nicole), Ashlyn G. Toher, Alison K. Toher, and Carter Stansberry; and great-grandson, Easton G. Shipp. Sam leaves behind his sister, Debbie Goepper (Carl), and brother, Kevin Stansberry (Mary Ann), along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Sam’s legacy of kindness, humor, and love for family will be remembered by all who knew him.

A visitation for Samuel will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Advantage Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 10907 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, Kentucky 40272. A funeral will occur Friday, May 23, 2025 from 12:00 PM at Advantage Funeral Home and Cremation Services with private burial to follow.
