Suzanne was the kind of woman who spent her life taking care of others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, but more than anything, she was a nurturer at heart. She always tried to see the good in people and would do just about anything for someone in need. To know her, was to love her.
For 67 years, Suzanne shared her life with her husband, Donald Bratcher. Together they built a beautiful family. Nothing meant more to Suzanne than being surrounded by the people she loved.
She was a member of Beechland Baptist Church and enjoyed the friendships she made through church and her senior groups. Suzanne was also a wonderful cook, loved animals, and had a special place in her heart for her dog, Robbie. She retired from Dixie Elementary School, where she worked as a lunchroom manager and spent many years caring for others in yet another way.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, William and Evelyn Grant & Ray and Lena Foley; her daughter, Kathy Bratcher; her brothers, Eugene Grant and Wilbur Dohrman; and her twin sister, Virginia Emberton and sister Polly Engle.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Donald Bratcher; her daughters, Donna Allen (Mike) and Linda Mattingly; her grandchildren, Zachary Allen, Whitney Allen, and Nicholas Mattingly (Emily); and her great-grandchildren, Briella Mattingly, Olivia Mattingly, and Theo Mattingly.
She also leaves behind her siblings, Lucy Schmidt, Wilma Cline, and Brenda Foley (Bill); sister-in-law JoAnn Maynard and many special nieces and nephews; and dear friends from church, senior groups and special friends and former neighbors next door, Bob and Liz Crouch.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Advantage Funeral Home-Hardy Chapel, located at 10907 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky 40272 across from Cracker Barrel.
The funeral service will be held at the same location at 11:30 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00AM.
Burial will take place at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery following the funeral service at 20501 N Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, Kentucky 40160.
