William proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was a Korean War veteran, serving from 1950–1951, and a Vietnam War veteran, serving from 1968-1969. He also served two tours during the Cold War. Throughout his military career, he served as a tanker and artilleryman and worked in reconnaissance and anti-aircraft operations.
William was a life member of UFW 1181, the American Legion, Sons of Confederate Veterans, 9th KY Infantry, FOE Club, AMVETS Post 61, and the 70th Tank Battalion Association. Following his military career, he retired from CSX as an electrician.
He was a loving husband, father, PawPaw, and great-PawPaw. William enjoyed history, fishing, shooting, and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his country, and the many memories he shared with those around him.
William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Ralls; his son, John Ralls; his granddaughter, Aubrey Ralls; his siblings, James Ralls, Mary Ralls, and Katherine Morris; and his brother-in-law, William B. Keller.
He is survived by his son, William (Tracy) Ralls Jr.; and his grandson, Coleman (Kazlie) Ralls and his great-grandchildren, Dakoda Ralls and Harlow Ralls.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project in William’s memory.
