William Douglas Scott, 76, of Louisville passed away on Saturday, August 1st, 2026. He was born on November 23rd, 1949, in Jefferson City, Missouri to the late William and Susan Scott. Bill was also preceded in death by his brother, John Peter Scott.
Bill’s career began with his service in the United States Navy, where he worked as an aviation technician. After serving his country in the United States Navy, Bill began working as an auto mechanic before eventually returning to the Aviation Industry. He worked for 25 years as an Aviation Inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration.
When Bill wasn't working diligently for the Federal Aviation Administration or spending time with his family; he could be found enjoying one of his many hobbies.
Bill loved to golf, restore classic cars, and he even earned his pilot’s license. When it came to restoration or remodeling there was no project that was too big or small for him to take on. Whether it was remodeling the home or building garages, Bill had the skills and knowledge to accomplish it all.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Debbie Scott; his children, Andrew Scott and Allison Scott; his grandchildren, Wren Huffman Scott and Sophia Meenach; his sister, Mary Scott (Doc Myers); his brother, Steven Scott (Gale); and a host of extended family members and friends.
Bill Scott will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as a loving husband, as a great father, as a wonderful grandfather, and as a great friend to many. His legacy will live on in the family he loved so dearly and in the many lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2026, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Louisville, KY 40222.
