

Services for Anna Nell Higgins, 90, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 5205 S. First Street, in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Steve Killam and Patti Hans officiating.
Mrs. Higgins was born November 13, 1924 in Huntington, Texas, the daughter of the late Attilean (Sowell) and Dave Raleigh Jones. She passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Higgins was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a homemaker. She attended school in Huntington and Lufkin. She married Cesley Higgins on July 24, 1941. She loved her family and stayed home to raise her children. She loved her church, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, and her church family. John 3:16 was her favorite verse of scripture. She enjoyed helping others, collecting Avon bottles and Beanie Babies, going to garage sales, camping, cooking, and traveling.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Blanco of Lufkin; grandchildren, Lauren Blanco of Wharton and Ethan Blanco of El Campo; great-grandson, Michael Salazar of Wharton; and a number of other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Higgins was preceded in death by her husband, Cesley Elton Higgins; son, David Elton Higgins; sisters, Ruby Anderson and Lois Wilder; and nephew, Ricky Whittaker.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Vega, Ethan Blanco, David Stanley, Wayne Corcoran, Bill West, and David Hudson.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel on Saturday.
