Argie Nell McCarty Treadwell

Argie Nell McCarty Treadwell, 85, of Lufkin, was born March 31, 1925 in Keltys, Texas, the daughter of the late Maxie Lee (Shaw) and Luther Allen McCarty. She passed away Monday, October 4, 2010 in a local nursing facility.

Mrs. Treadwell was a homemaker. In her early years, she was a military wife. She took great pleasure in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and collecting sewing patterns and buttons. She was also a former Angelina County Deputy Clerk. Mrs. Treadwell was a long-time member of Keltys United Methodist Church, to which she belonged since childhood.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Susie Treadwell; daughter and son-in-law, Jana and Dickie Dixon; grandchildren, Anne Treadwell, Jat and Julie Treadwell, Sasha and Richard Sutton and Sara and Aaron Patten; great-grandchildren, Jill and Justin Treadwell, Caleb, Tyler and Seth Tippit and Emma Patten; and a number of other family members.

Mrs. Treadwell was preceded in death by her husband, Bob J. Treadwell.

Mrs. Treadwell's family wishes to extend special thanks to Christy Stewart for all her special and extra care given to Miss Argie.

Services for Mrs. Treadwell will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Private interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
