

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Armila dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a loving home. She shared 58 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Sidronio Ponce. Her family was the center of her world, and she found great joy in spending time with those she loved most.
Armila enjoyed knitting, working word puzzles, and cooking for family and friends. She was known for her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Clara (Macias) Gamez; and her siblings, Humberto Gamez, Amada Gamez, Delfina Gamez, Qiteria Gamez, Margarita Gamez, and Elida Gamez; and her son-in-law Socorro Gutierrez.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 58 years, Sidronio Ponce; her children, Sid Ponce and his wife Martha, Armida Ponce, and Elizabet Gomez and her husband Luis; her grandchildren, Aziz Gutierrez, Anibal Gutierrez, Jayden Gutierrez, Hayley Gomez, Migdalia Gomez, Joachim Gutierrez, Joshua Gutierrez, Luis Gomez, Sid Ponce, Jr., and Diego Noyola; and her great-grandchildren, Naim Gutierrez, Abdiel Gutierrez, Zaid Gutierrez, Ainoaha Gutierrez, Joachim Gutierrez, Anita Gamez, Rafael Gamez, Victor Gamez, Manuela Gamez, Raul Gamez, and Socorro Gamez. She also leaves behind numerous other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
In accordance with her wishes, Armila will be cremated.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Gipson Funeral Home. The Holy Rosary will be recited from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that evening with Father Jovy officiating.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Lufkin. Following the Mass, her ashes will be placed at rest in the Columbarium at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.
Though she is no longer with us in body, the love, wisdom, and memories Armila shared will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
