Services for Aubry Brian Ward, 60, of Diboll, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Blakey, Rev. Gary Ward, Rev. Erick Blakey, and Bro. Sheldon King officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
An avid hunter, gardener, and fisherman, Brian was born October 10, 1953 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of Lillie Laverne Lee Ward and the late Aubry Willard Ward. He departed this life on March 29, 2014.
Brian has been an employee of Temple-Inland since 1971. He also owned and operated The Hunter’s Corner for seven years. A man of strength, of love for God, family, and friends and the mightiest of East Texas hunters, Brian crammed a lot of living into a short time. During the year, he celebrated four seasons, hunting, fishing, gardening, and getting ready. As a man with a generous spirit and a willing soul, many recall him sharing the bounty of his garden with those he called friend. Brian was a member of Diboll First United Pentecostal Church and served on its Board of Trustees and as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Shirley Ward of Lufkin; daughter, Kristi Ward of Lubbock; daughter, Denise Ward of Lufkin; mother, Laverne Lee Ward of Diboll; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and David Blakey of Canton, Jill and Michael Patterson of Bucharest, Romania, Amy and Doug Garmany of Hemphill; and a number of other family members, including 18 nieces and nephews and friends.
