Services for Barbara Ann Partin Vardeman, 73, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery in Nacogdoches County.
Mrs. Vardeman was born August 12, 1944 in Nacogdoches County and passed away May 19, 2018 in a Lufkin nursing facility. She was the daughter of the late Bertha (Phillips) and James Curtis Partin.
Mrs. Vardeman was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and “Memaw”. She enjoyed working with children and especially her tenure at Lufkin State School. She was a wonderful cook and was best known for her fried chicken, mashed potatoes and cracklin’ cornbread. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading western books and spending time with her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Billy L. Vardeman; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Don Curry of Houston, Wanda and Wayne Leubner of Lufkin, and Susan Vardeman of Nacogdoches; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Jernigan and Louise Allen, both of Nacogdoches; two sisters-in-law, Mary Nichols of Irving and Billie Vardeman of Diboll; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Billy R. Vardeman.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Leubner, Ryan Gafford, Slade Johnson, Allen Forrest and Mark Talley.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
