Bennie Lou Bass

Services for Bennie Bass, 96, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Joe Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Bass was born October 18, 1919 in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the late Addie (Carswell) and John Pipkin. She passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in a local nursing facility.

Mrs. Bass was a pastor’s wife and a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending summers and holidays with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and was very involved in her church’s youth group. She was a longtime member of First United Pentecostal Church. She was young at heart and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her son, Benton Bass of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Jack Harrison of Dallas; grandchildren, Tanya, Shontel, Jacqueline, Theresa, Elena, Martha, Travis, and Nikki; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bass was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Leonard E. Bass; daughter, Dorothy; 1 sister; and 2 brothers.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
