

Betty was born on February 18, 1923 in Union, Iowa to Ozell Brown Egenes and Otis Egenes, a first generation Norwegian. She moved with her family to Texas as a child and resided there all her life. She was employed by Monsanto Chemical during World War II and won the "E for Excellence" award for her service in making bombs for the Allies.
Betty married Benjamin McLemore Camp in Henderson, Texas in 1943 and they made a life together in Henderson, Kilgore, and Lufkin for 68 years. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church as a communicant, teacher, volunteer and staff. Betty also volunteered with the Museum of East Texas Guild.
She dedicated her life to her family, cooking, caring, and sewing her "little animals."
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Benjamin McLemore Camp, Sr. of Lufkin; daughter, Carol Camp Moore and son -in-law, Jerry D. Moore of Lufkin; son, Benjamin McLemore Camp, Jr. and daughter-in-law Nancy Corinne Rendleman Camp of Harper, Texas; grandchildren, Andrew Moore of Lufkin, Erin Moore Thiebert and husband Jeffrey Thiebert of McLean, Virginia, Robert Benjamin Moore and wife Melinda Coziar Moore of Lufkin, Amanda Paige Camp of Tyler, Matthew Thompson Camp and wife Kim Rasmussen Camp of Houston; and great-grandchildren, Ryan Patrick Moore, Owen Marshall Thiebert and Emerson Virginia Thiebert.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Robert Broome; and sister, Linda Egenes.
A memorial service for Betty will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012 in the First Presbyterian Church.
