Betty Kenner, of Lufkin, TX, passed away on June 20, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on September 6, 1933 to Joe and Ocie Ross, Betty was known for her sweet yet feisty demeanor, always speaking her mind. She cherished her dog Ginger and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she lived out her strong Christian faith.
Affectionately known as "Granny," Betty was a pillar of strength for her family, who she loved dearly. Her home was the heart of all family gatherings, especially during holidays. When not enjoying reruns of Andy Griffith, she found solace in listening to David Jeremiah and others preach. Betty had a passion for shopping and cherished her outings to IHOP for meals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth Kenner, her daughter Betty Jean Raines, son-in-law Jerry Poindexter and her brothers, Carl and Claude Ross.
Her memory will live on through her daughters, Kristy Forke and her husband Steven of Lufkin, TX; Lisa Allen and her husband Keith of Forest, TX; Patricia Poindexter of Pollok, TX; her son Kenneth Raines and wife Cinda of Pollok, TX; her grandchildren Craig Forke, Ava Forke, Kristin Allen, Coty Allen, Seth Poindexter, Leah O'Neal and her husband Michael McKinney, Tyler Poindexter, and Betty Sue Starling, Latisha Riddles, Heath Raines, and Brittany Raines; her great-grandchildren Liviah Griffith, Abel Poindexter, and Elias McKinney; her brother-in-law Dan Kenner; close friend Joanne Branson, and many other friends and neighbors who all loved her.
The family extends special gratitude to Dr. Kyle Krohn for his exceptional care and compassion for Betty, and they are deeply thankful for the nurses and staff at Woodland Heights Medical Center Stepdown Unit.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Monday June 24, 2024 from 9:00-10:00 am at Gipson Funeral Home in Lufkin, TX followed immediately by a Celebration of Betty's Life at the same location. Betty will be laid to rest in Gann Cemetery.
Betty Kenner's legacy of love, faith, and strength will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
