Services for Bill Ray Riddley, 69, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Elzine Strong officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery. Mr. Riddley was born August 15, 1944 in Camden, Texas, the son of the late Ima (Sprayberry) and Clifford Riddley. He passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 in the V.A. Hospital in Houston. Mr. Riddley was retired from the United States Army. He served during Vietnam and was the recipient of 2 Bronze Stars, 3 Purple Hearts, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation Badge. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 84. He loved his family and sacrificed a lot for them. Mr. Riddley was a member of Lancewood Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Lena Riddley of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Kim Riddley of Nacogdoches and Michael and Alainia Riddley of Lufkin; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and T. F. Nash of Camden; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members. In addition to his parents, Mr. Riddley was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Pallbearers will be Michael Riddley, Kevin Riddley, Justin Williams, Levi Bortz, David Dupree, and Altan Stegall. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home. I am so sorry to read about Bill's passing,he is home now and without pain. I remember him teasing me while we sat waiting for our boys at JD Olford's place. I know he was in pain all the time but he didn't talk about it. I am glad I was able to know him. You are in my prayers,God bless you during this most difficult time.
