

Services for Mrs. Billie L. Jordan, 88, of Pollok, were held on Friday, March 24, 2017 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jamie Lea and Bro. David Kennedy officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.
Mrs. Jordan was born November 5, 1928 in Grant Parish, Colfax, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Theodocia (Docia) (Hamberlin) and William Haden Griffin. She passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Jordan married Benjamin P. Jordan on November 8, 1958 and enjoyed 51-1/2 years of marriage. She was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (now AT&T) for 30 years. She retired at the age of 52 years so that she and her son could move to the country. Her husband retired 1-1/2 years later and joined her and her son. They enjoyed truck farming and sharing with their friends and shut-ins. She and her husband were members of a line dancing group in Lufkin for almost 30 years. Mrs. Jordan was a member of Falvey Memorial Methodist Church in Wells.
Survivors include her daughter, Nadine Patricia Chaney of Springville, Alabama; son and daughter-in-law, Michael H. and Melissa Jordan of Lufkin; grandchildren, David W. Chaney, Scott Chaney, Judy Bryant, Hope McNab and Charity Harrisson, all of Springville, Alabama; Hollin, Aaron and Natalie Jordan, all of Lufkin; 7 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Law Gene and Juanita Griffin of Monterey, California; sister-in-law, Audrey Robinson and husband Clyde of Evergreen, Louisiana; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin P. Jordan; brothers, William Ray Griffin and wife Deadra, Walter Laverne Griffin, James Haden Griffin, Wilmer and James Edwin Griffin; sister, Aline Ashe; and sisters-in-law, Naomi Greenville and Opal Few.
