Billie Laverne Vardeman

Billie was born on September 10, 1933, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Verner and Julie (née Davenport) Jinkins. She grew up in East Texas and built a life centered around family, hard work, and the things she loved most.

Throughout her working years, Billie was employed by Temple in Diboll and Trinity Mission in Diboll. She was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to her responsibilities.

Billie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved gardening and took pride in her yard, which was often adorned with a variety of ornaments she collected over the years. In fact, collecting was one of her favorite pastimes, and she never met a treasure she didn't think might belong in her collection. She was known for doing things on her own schedule and in her own way, a trait her family came to know and love. Billie also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved dog, "Little Mama," who faithfully enjoyed her daily bacon breakfast.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Verner and Julie Jinkins; her husband, James Vardeman; her brothers, James Jinkins, Purvis Jinkins, and Burtis Jinkins; her sister, Judy Poore; and her son-in-law, Bobby Ryan.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Danny Vardeman, Lillian Ryan, and Sheila Harrison and husband Michael; her sister, Martha Barnes; numerous grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Gipson Funeral Home, 1515 South Chestnut Street, Lufkin, Texas. Funeral services will follow immediately at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Union Springs Cemetery in Nacogdoches.

Billie will be remembered for her independent spirit, her love for family and animals, her collection of treasures, and the many memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her.
