

Services for Billy Edward (B.E.) Childress, 75, of Lufkin, Texas will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Childress was a member of Herty Baptist Church, Lufkin, Texas.
Mr. Childress was born October 19, 1935 in Nacogdoches, Texas and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 26, 2011.
Mr. Childress resided in Lufkin, Texas most of his life and was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the United States Navy and Naval Reserves where he proudly served his country for 25 years of active and reserve duty. Additionally, Mr. Childress retired from the Champion International Paper Mill – Lufkin, Texas where he was a Paper Machine Tour Foreman for 40 years. Mr. Childress served as the Financial Secretary & Treasurer for the United Paperworkers International Union – Lone Star Local #411 for 25 years While Mr. Childress loved to hunt, fish and watch football, his true passion in life was spending time with his family. His love for family was immeasurable and always came before all else. His grandchildren were his shining pride and joy!
Mr. Childress was preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty Jean Childress; and his parents, Hugh and Mamie Childress.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Janet Childress of Cypress, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Anne Childress of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and James Banks of Lufkin; granddaughters, Shelby Childress and Leslie Banks of Dallas, Texas; grandsons, Tommy Childress and wife Renee of Lufkin, Jacob Childress of Cypress, Texas and Daniel Banks of Sugarland, Texas; sister, Jeraldene Simpson of Winnie, Texas; brother, Eugene (Gene) Childress of Huntington, Texas; and brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Lorraine Childress of Jasper, Georgia; as well as a host of loving family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Childress, Tommy Childress, Daniel Banks, Bart Riley, Steven Childress and Tom Squyres.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home, Lufkin, Texas.
