Billy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, and was a self-employed welder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and looking for rocks at the lake. He loved to make his friends and family laugh; he was known as a comedian. Billy served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Crawford of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Krista and James Anderson of Huntington; granddaughter, Presley Anderson; grandson, James Anderson, Jr.; son, Tyler Hatt of Lufkin; daughter, and son-in-law, Laura and Blake Byerly of Lufkin; mother, Dottie Wood of Lufkin; brother, James Wood of Lufkin; aunts, Linda Darlene Smith and Denita Smith; special friends, E. H. and Betty Fancher; and a number of other family members and friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Wood, Sr.; sister, D. D. Neal; and brothers, Paul Wayne Crawford and Stf. Sgt. Bobby J Wood, Jr.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Gipson Funeral Home.
A memorial service is pending for a later date.
