Services for Bobby Dee Burns, 77, of Huntington, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Maynard Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Knot Cemetery in Nacogdoches County. Bobby was born December 26, 1940 in Angelina County, Texas, the son of the late Oma Chapmen (Grant) and Ephraim Lafayette Burns. He passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 in a local hospital. Bobby was a retired welder. He was a jokester, hard worker, jack of all trades, and home body. He enjoyed working outside, farming, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed gardening, growing rose bushes, and watching and feeding hummingbirds. Bobby was affectionately known as “Paw” or Mr. Welder. He was a 20+ year member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Survivors include the love of his life and best friend, Mertis Johnson of Lufkin; son, Randall Burns and fiancée Casey Matthews; son, Jeremy Burns; son, Shaun Burns; son, Jason Burns; grandchildren, Colton Burns and fiancée Krista Rouse, Lauren Burns, Heather Burns, Hailey Burns, Meagan Burns, Logan Burns, Brashay Thompson, Mehki Matthews, Chris Miller, Jazelle Matthews, Makyla Matthews and Cayson Matthews; sisters, Elsie Pelton and Mary Ann Temple; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amy Burns; brother, Roy Burns; and sisters, Marene Graham, L. V. Cook, Gertrude Brazzel and Reba King. Pallbearers will be Mike Pelton, Kara Porter, Jason Burns, Thomas McGraw, Eddie Johnson and Kelly Russell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. RIP Bobby. I have always loved you since I was a teenager.I can still hear your laughter and your jokes:) I'm so glad we ran into each other just recently. I will always cherish our conversation. Rest high on the mountain . ill always love and miss you.
