Services for Bonnie Herman McCarty, 85, of Lufkin, Texas will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 1 PM in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Keith Woolf officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells, Texas.
Bonnie was born May 14, 1938 in Houston County near Ratcliff to Mary Oliver Herman and Richard Herman. They moved to Wells when she was a baby. She grew up there and graduated school in Wells, she then married Troy McCarty in 1956 and they moved to Lufkin. She is a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Bonnie and Troy had two children together. After the children graduated she went to work at “Cavanaughs Jewelers” where she retired after 27 years with them.
Bonnie passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, leaving behind very special grandchildren (Shana Looney Glawson) and husband (Starlan of Central), (Justin Looney) and wife (Rachel of Oklahoma), Cynthia McCarty and Matthew of Houston.
Great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Kaylie Looney of Oklahoma and Carlie and Camryn Glawson of Central. Daughter-in-law, Cindy Conner of Houston.
One special sister-in-law, Jannie Herman; special niece, Debbie Johnson; and special friend, Lynda Duffeld.
Bonnie was preceded in death of the love of her life for 60 years and 2 and a half months, Troy Alton McCarty, who passed away on October 24, 2016. She also lost her special daughter, Cindy Smith, on November 30, 2013; her special son, Lane McCarty, on April 22, 2019 and she lost her only brother, Billy Ray Herman; her parents, Richard and Mary Herman, many years ago and an infant brother, Raymon Carl, right after birth.
Pallbearers will be Frank Herman, Tommy Griggs, Gary Looney, Brian Herman, Dylan Herman, and Robert Herman.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W Frank Ave, Lufkin, TX 75904, and Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2005 Ford Chapel Rd, Lufkin, TX 75901.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice in the Pines.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
