Services for Charles W. Lantrip, 84, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Roy Hall officiating. The family will host a reception following the service. A private interment will be in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Lantrip was born October 29, 1928 in Anson, Texas, the son of the late Estella (King) and Claude Lantrip. He passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Pinecrest Retirement Community.
Mr. Lantrip worked at Chevron for 35 years. Early in his career, he worked at various locations around the world. He retired after working in Aberdeen, Scotland. He was the General Operations Manager of the Ninian Field in the North Sea. He was an experienced pilot and an accomplished woodturner. His other interests included golfing and fishing.
Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Kathryn “Betty” Lantrip; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Robert Dixon; son, Stephen Lantrip; daughter, Nancy Ryan; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Art Astarita; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and El Ray Lee; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Kenneth Michael Brady; daughter and son-in-law, Larissa and Clifford Long; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Art Astarita, Kevin Coote, Stephen Lantrip, Clifford Long, James Long, and John Warrick.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lantrip was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Donna Lantrip.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Lantrip’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
