Charles Earl Raines

Charles Earl Raines, age 90, of Lufkin, was born on April 8, 1935, in Chickasaw, Alabama, to the late Agnes (Threlkil) and Bill Raines. He passed away on April 21, 2025, at the Southland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Charles was a hands-on, hardworking man who preferred to do things the “old school” way. He enjoyed fishing, arts and crafts, and working with his hands—and he was always ready to share a good meal. He worked most of his life as a piledriver with Hemphill Pile Driving. Charles was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and was assured of his salvation and eternal life.

He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Raines (Cinda Garlington), Robert Raines, and Billy Raines; daughters, Patricia Poindexter, Brenda Rush, and Shelly Raines; numerous half- and stepchildren; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Betty Jean Raines; and his sisters, Mae, Faye, and Valerie.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Gipson Funeral Home in Lufkin officiated by Pastor D.R. McNaughton. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
