

Services for Charles H. “Whistler” Rector, 81, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in the O’Quinn Baptist Church with Bro. David Merritt and Bro. Keith Woolf officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Mr. Rector was born July 27, 1932 in Cushing, TX, and passed away June 13, 2014 in the Houston V.A. hospital. He was the son of the late Linnie (Armstrong) and Floyd Rector.
He was a man of God and a member of McKindree Baptist Church. He served as deacon at Lakewood Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was a Mason of Cushing Masonic Lodge, #911, A.F. & A.M. for 58 years, and also a Mason of Lufkin Masonic Lodge, #669, A.F. & A. M. He served his country in the Navy on the USS Currier DE 700 during the Korean Conflict. He had been a welder for Texas Foundry.
He is survived by wife, Manda (Harris) Rector; sons, Wesley and fiancé, Leslie Goins, Sidney and wife, Debbie; Robert “Boscoe” Rector and James Rector; daughter, Debbie White and husband, Gary; step-daughters, T. J. and Ken Yeates and Leigh Ann Bass; grandchildren, Brandy Rector, Wesley C. Rector, Lauren Jones, James E. Rector, Amy Rector, Jeremy Atkinson, Jennifer Langley, Ricky White, Brian Rector, Cody Rector, Dakota Rector, Katelynn Rector and Kallie Rector; 17 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Mary Ann Rector.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; brother, James Rector; and sister, Alpha Stinson.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Borel, Bob Lee, Richard Ketchum, Dennis Ketchum, Mac McCoy and James Hahn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mell Bloyer and Luther Sorelle.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at O’Quinn Baptist Church.
