

Services for Clarence Andrew “Buck” Cornett, Jr., 70, of Flint, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Mardy Guidry officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Cornett was born February 24, 1945 in Sulphur, Louisiana, the son of the late Vera Mae (Krotzer) and Clarence A. Cornett, Sr. He passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in Mt. Storm, West Virginia.
He was employed at B. L. Harbet as a mechanical engineer/project manager. Mr. Cornett was an avid drag racer. He loved cars, especially classic cars, and restored old cars. He also collected guns and was a member of the NHRA, IHRA, and the American Legion. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, was a 101 Airborne Ranger, and was a POW for 9 months.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Elizabeth M. (Hebb) Cornett of Flint; daughter and son-in-law, Corinthia and John Rugee of Dallas; daughter, Andrea Cornett of Alverada; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Sandra Cornett of Dallas and John David and Pam Cornett; stepson, Chris Modisett of Flint; sister, Linda Kay Cornett; sister-in-law, Karen Marze and special friend C J Burns of Pollok; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed “Bubba” and Betty Hebb of Moore, South Carolina; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Cornett, Jerry Emmons, Darrell Elkins, C. J. Burns, Freddy Zeleskey, and Chris Modisett.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
