Connie Mae Banning-Ray, 76, of Lufkin, Texas, passed on February 12, 2026, in Lufkin. Connie lived a life marked by strength and resilience, and she will be remembered for the place she held in the hearts of those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Rex Wallon Ray; her parents, Geneva (Mayhugh) Banning and Loranza Leond Banning; her sister, Betty; her brothers, Donnie Banning and Bobby Driver; and her great-grandson, Konner Lane Crabtree.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorenza Jean Crabtree Gonzales and husband Frank; her son, Philip Ray Lenquest; her adopted son, Zoel Downs; her sister, Linda Sweetwood; her brothers, Ronnie Banning, Johnny Banning, Randel Banning, and Adrian “Butch” Zollinger; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Connie will be laid to rest beside her beloved Rex at Blooming Grove Cemetery in Clay County, Arkansas on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
