

Services for Daisy Lee Johnson, 85, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Louie Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born November 29, 1929 in Laurel, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Myrtle (Moore) and Norris Welborn. She passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Johnson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, as well as a wonderful homemaker. She was a member of Alco Baptist Church. She enjoyed her church, gospel concerts and music, canning, crafts, and baking. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was previously employed with Slack Elementary School, R. L. Davis Clothing, and Lufkin State School.
Survivors include her children, Jerry and Young Johnson of Princeton, Texas, Linda and Charles Carter of Lufkin, Kenneth and Nelda Johnson of Lufkin, Sue and John Duke of Lufkin, and Michael and Kay Johnson of Lufkin; grandchildren, Rebecca, Robert, Timothy, John, Charlinda, Jeramy, Kevin, Ashley, Jason, Alyssa, Crystal, Cory, Michelle, and Waylon; 32 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and a number of other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Richard Johnson, and brother, Alton Welborn.
Pallbearers will be Tim Carter, John Carter, Jeramy Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Jason Duke, Cory Johnson and Robert Johnson.
Honorary pallbearer will be Waylon W. Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
