Delores Billingsley Duren

Services for Delores (Billingsley) Duren will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Hancock and Joe Smitherman officiating. Interment will follow in Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Duren was born October 30, 1932 in Nacogdoches County, the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Scarabough) and George S. Billingsley, and passed away July 5, 2013 in a local hospice facility.

Delores was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and a strong Christian. She was a member of Timberland Drive Church of Christ where she was a former elder’s wife, classroom teacher, and loved the Lord with a passion. She and her husband were members of Lufkin Sam’s Chapter RV Travel Club and they traveled extensively. It was a special treat to have the grandkids travel with them. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and crocheting. Mrs. Duren was a retired secretary for the Lufkin Independent School District.

Survivors include husband, David Duren of Lufkin; son, Daryl Duren of McAllen; son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Brenda Duren of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Deidra and Jeff Breckenridge of Spring; grandchildren, Nick Duren, Callie and Jarle Lillemoen, Steve and Amanda Duren; Randy and Lily Duren, Daniel and Monica Duren, Barett and Amber Duren; David, Scott and Melissa Breckenridge; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth (Scarabough) and George S. Billingsley; 3 brothers, Alton, L. B. and James Billingsley; 3 sisters, Myrtle Hardy, Leatha Swor and Reatha Billingsley.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Gipson Funeral Home.
