With full assurance in the promise of our Lord Jesus when He said, “I am the resurrection and the life,” Doyle Gene McCarther, Sr., Etoile, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on February 27, 2014, at the age of 84. He was born in Wannette, Oklahoma, June 19, 1929, to Kenneth and Dena McCarther.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley McCarther and his daughter, Katherine Frick and husband, Ron; daughter, Susan Payne and husband, Keith; son, Doyle McCarther, Jr., and his son, Ken McCarther and wife, Cindy, along with 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Nelda Bayha and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Verna and Don Carpenter; as well as, many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Doyle proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of Shirley Creek Baptist Church and he actively served in many civic and community activities in Etoile.
