Services for Earnest E. Landrum, 96, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jimmy Hedges officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Hill/Simms cemetery.
Mr. Landrum was born January 1, 1918, the son of the late Mary (Wells) and Kenny Landrum. He passed away June 9, 2014 in a local hospital.
He was retired from the Parks and Recreation of Houston. He loved his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a hard worker for his family. When he was able, he enjoyed gardening. He never met a stranger. Mr. Landrum was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Linda Landrum; daughter, Janey Ramsey and Denny Paris; grandchildren, Tracie Bowden and Darrell Wonzer, both of Lufkin, James Lakey of Splendora, Terri Walshak of New Caney, and David Landrum of Winter Park, Florida; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Imogene McGahee Landrum; and daughter, Mary Lakey.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Wonzer, James Lakey, Josh Bowden, Scott Petit, Kevin Cutler and David Landrum.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
