Elmer L. Nudd

Services for Sgt. Elmer L. Nudd, 84, of Sanford, NC, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jess Slider officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery with Military services.

Sgt. Nudd was born March 11, 1929 in Troopsburg, NY, the son of the late Forest David Nudd and Sarah Margaret (Caty) Nudd, and passed away September 6, 2013 in North Carolina.

Sgt. Nudd loved his family, he enjoyed hunting and fishing an he never met a stranger. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Army, from which he retired after 24 years. He began in the medical corps, retiring as an electrical engineer instructor.

Survivors include daughter, Peggy Wright of TX; sons, Darwin Nudd of Galeton, PA; Michael Nudd of Jersey Shore, PA; Donald Starke of Sanford, NC; Terrence Nudd of Mississippi; Michael Starke of Lufkin, TX; Berry Nudd of Ohio; daughter, Diane Dorn of Lufkin, TX; son, Kevin Nudd of Lufkin, TX; daughter, Debbie Barry of Houston, TX; son, Rodney Nudd of Lufkin, TX; numerous extended grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Meryl Nudd of Troopsbury, PA; brother, Larry Nudd of Iowa and sister, Bedernia Cornell of Troopsburg, NY.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Nudd; son, Larry Starke; brother, Sam Nudd; sisters, Janice Nudd and Royina Nudd; and brother, Kenneth Nudd.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Berry, Michael Starke, C. W. Tiller, John Wright, David Nudd and Jeffery Nudd.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dwayne Wright, Kevin, Jr., Clinton Starke and Donald Starke, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Gipson Funeral Home.
