He is survived by his daughter Barbara Phelps; son Robert Ellington; daughters Donna Johnson and her husband Roy, Jo Ann McGough, and Susan Nerren and her husband Joe; grandchildren Cody Phelps, Clay Ellington and his partner Heather Duett, Michael Davis and his wife April, Angela Rice and her husband Jason, Chad Johnson, Matt Johnson and his wife Melissa, Stephanie Holland and her husband David, Anthony Willis, Alicia Bock and her husband Dusty, and Scott Summers; as well as 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Pearlie Rambo and brothers Earl Ellington, Jr. and L.C. Ellington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Ellington; his parents Earl and Willie Mae (Scott) Ellington; and brothers Daniel Gilbert Ellington, J.E. Ellington, and Glenn Ellington.
E.W. served in the Army, stationed in Korea, and after his service, he became a dedicated road builder. He was passionate about hunting and fishing, and in later years, he and Naomi enjoyed traveling across the country together.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 5-7 PM at Gipson Funeral Home in Lufkin. A funeral service will take place on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 2 PM, also at Gipson Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Keith Wolf, Jacob Smith, and David Holland, Jr. Interment will be at Berry Cemetery.
