Flora Nell Holt

Flora Nell DuBose Holt, 81, of Lufkin, was born February 5, 1931 in the Beulah Community of Angelina County, Texas, to Eula Mae (Allbritton) and Thomas Paul DuBose. She passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She graduated from Lufkin High School in 1948 and attended Lamar Junior College. She was married to Robert Earl Holt, and they had one son, Malone DuBose Holt.

Mrs. Holt was Vice-President of Credit Operations at Bank of America, retiring following a 38-year career there. She was a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and sponsor on many youth mission trips. She also ministered to children at Round Valley Indian Reservation in Covelo, California for extended periods after her retirement.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Malone and Shelley Holt; 1 granddaughter, Rachel Holt; step-grandson, Kyle Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Anna Lois and Ed Havard; brother, Roland DuBose; in-laws, Mrs. Si Wayne (Emma) Holt, David and Sylvia Holt, Elsie (Holt) and Vernon Redd; and her beloved aunts, niece, and nephews.

Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Grace; sister-in-law, Fran Holt Card; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Silas Malone and Eva Holt.

Pallbearers will be Todd DuBose, Tim Havard, Dean McMahon, Mark Hurst, Mark DuBose, Gary Jones, Steve Hicks and Justin McMahon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dane Havard and Kyle Davis.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Holt's memory may be made to Lufkin's First Baptist Church, 106 E. Bremond, Lufkin, Texas 75901; or Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

Services for Mrs. Holt will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Andrew G. Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Diboll.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
