Mrs. Kittrell was born on November 19, 1927 in Splendora, Texas to the late Jim and Tennie Davis. She passed away on April 25, 2019 at a nursing home facility in Lufkin. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lufkin and retired from Southland paper mill. Mom was a fantastic cook and rarely needed a recipe. She loved cooking for her family during the holidays and made sure she always prepared her 3 grandsons’ favorite dishes. She was a devoted member of the “Gabby Girls” group and loved her dear friends. She considered herself a domino aficionado and was a fierce competitor at the table. She was a loving mother and Memaw who will be profoundly missed.
Mrs. Kittrell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Melody Dickey of Tyler; daughter, Ramona Allen of Houston; grandsons, Aaron Dickey and wife Brittany, Cliff Dickey and wife Anna, and Preston Allen; great-grandchildren, Fletcher, Silas, and Lane Dickey; sisters, Ruth Gunn of Magnolia and Zelda Parker of Willis; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. We would like to thank Sandra Distefano and her late husband Charles for their love and support of mom over many years. They spent countless hours doing anything mom needed, or wanted, done. She loved them dearly and considered them part of our family.
Mrs. Kittrell is preceded in death by her father, Jim Davis; mother, Tennie Griffin; husband, Jesse Kittrell; brother, L.V. Davis; sister, Ellen Snow; and great-granddaughter, Ella Grace Dickey.
Mrs. Kittrell will be escorted to her final resting place by pallbearers: Aaron Dickey, Cliff Dickey, Preston Allen, Tommy Swearingen, Earl Dover, and Charles Arnold. Honorary pallbearer: Lonnie Stone.
