Francis Modisette Gill

Funeral services for Lovie Francis (Modisette) Gill of Lufkin will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jimmy Hedges officiating. Interment will follow in Walker Cemetery in Redland.

Mrs. Gill was born October 20, 1923 in Allentown, the daughter of the late Charles Benjamin Modisette and Anna Mae Ella (Allen) Modisette. She passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, June 3, 2017 in a local nursing facility.

Mrs. Gill was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Lufkin and worked in the church nursery for many years. She graduated from Central High School at the age of 16 and also graduated from Piney Woods Business College. She was working as a secretary when she met the love of her life, the late Elmer Clayton Gill. She was extremely proud of her four grandchildren who have graduated or will graduate from Texas A&M University; also her three grandsons are Eagle Scouts.

Survivors include her daughter, Toni Lynn (Gill) McCall and husband Homer of Lufkin; son, Bennie Clayton Gill and wife Paula of Fulshear, Texas; grandsons, Brandon Ashley McCall and special friend Stevie Baldwin-Sutton of Round Rock, Texas; Dr. Kristopher Blake McCall, M.D. and wife Brittany of Edmond, Oklahoma; Matthew Clayton Gill of College Station, Texas; granddaughter, Tamara Leigh (Gill) Massingill and husband Brian of Belton, Texas; and three great-grandchildren. Survivors also include sisters-in-law, Joyce White of Austin, Janice Gill of Lufkin, Jean Walter and husband Dr. John Walter of Nacogdoches; brother-in-law, Dr. Jack Morris Gill and wife Linda of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Gill was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Joyce Benjamin Modisette and Ralph David Modisette; grandchildren, Constance Lynn Gill and Rebecca Leann Gill; and brothers-in-law Melvin Ray Gill and wife Carolyn and Robert White.

Pallbearers will be Brandon McCall, Kristopher McCall, Matthew Gill, Joseph Walter, Brian Massingill and Gene Dorsett.

The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Gipson Funeral Home.
